NEWS: The city just held a briefing on the flood preparations underway in Medicine Hat. They re-emphasized that at this no point NO evacuations are anticipated. Temporary mitigation efforts are almost complete and crews are going to continue carrying out that work. The mitigation efforts are designed to protect areas if the river was to reach a flow rate up to 3,750 cubic metres/ second. At this point it is projected to peak at 2,400 cubic metres/second by Saturday. Residents are being asked to stay away from the river as levels are still rising and the water is moving very fast. Residents with isolation valves are being advised there is no need to close those valves. The Emergency Operations Centre will remain open.
