NEWS UPDATE @ 12PM WITH ORANGE UGANDA INCOMING REPORTS: Kampala Lord Mayor Lukwago has been arrested again according to latest reports. He was today expected to report to the Criminal Investigations Department (C.I.D) where he will be informed of the crime he committed. Lukwago was released from Nagalama Police Post minutes past midnight, following his arrest yesterday. KATIKIRO AT PARLIAMENT: Charles Peter Mayiga, the Buganda Kingdom premier has this morning arrived at the Uganda Parliament for a visit as part of a fundraising drive for the reconstruction of the Kasubi Tombs. Upon the arrival, he toured the building meeting the Leader of the Opposition, Nathan Nandala Mafabi who personally contributed UGX2 million. The government chief whip, Justin Lumumba has cotnributed UGX6 million. He’s is currently meeting Speaker Rebecca Kadaga. The drive aims at raising UGX5 billion for the reconstruction of the UNESCO Heritage Site whose existence has been threatened by two fires. RELEASED: The Indian man arrested in Soroti for allegedly raping a cleaner at a construction company has been released on police bond. Rauji Pindoria Vishran 42 years, who works with Ambitious Construction Company was arrested last Thursday after the victim who worked for the company as a cleaner reported the matter to Soroti Police station. WORLD TOILET DAY: Today November 19th is the World Toilet Day. First celebrated in 2001 after the World Toilet Organisation earmarked the day, today comes as the United Nations estimates that 2.5 billion people around the world lack access to a clean and safe toilet while more than one billion practice open defecation an act linked to countless deaths. Today also happens to be the International Men’s Day. ELECTION: The election of the four representatives of professional bodies to the KCCA council is to be held today. The four bodies are; Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers, Uganda Society of Architects, Uganda Medical Association and Uganda Law Society. The Act establishing Kampala Capital City Authority provides for councillors representing the four bodies. The election is being conducted through secret ballot and is costing UGX35m. 14 DEAD: At least 14 people have been killed after a cyclone, accompanied by heavy rains, tore through the Italian island of Sardinia. A number of people are believed to be missing after rivers burst their banks, sweeping cars away and causing bridges to collapse. The worst-hit area appears to be in and around the north-eastern city of Olbia. Hundreds of people across the Mediterranean island were moved from their homes. BEIRUT BLASTS: Seven people have been reported killed as explosions struck near the Iranian embassy in the Lebanese capital Beirut. Conflicting reports say the blasts could have come from rockets or a car bomb. Several buildings were damaged, eyewitnesses said. Iran is a major backer of the Lebanaese Shia militant group Hezbollah, which has sent fighters to Syria to back the government of Bashar al-Assad. The conflict in Syria has worsened sectarian tensions in Lebanon.
