NEWS UPDATE AT 8AM WITHG ORANGE Social sciences, business computing and civil engineering are some of the courses that have the highest cut off points for the 2014/2015 public universities admission due to limited space and equipment at public universities. At Makerere University, Bachelor of Science in petroleum geoscience and production alongside Bachelor of Science in civil engineering have the highest weights at 52.6 points respectively. The deputy academic registrar in charge of admission at Makerere University Charles Ssentongo says the university will only admit a few students whom they can easily facilitate in teaching and learning. Retired judges have expressed dismay over government’s laxity in paying their pension. A group of 15 retired judges some of whom have been recalled to serve on contract basis are demanding a total sum of 22 billion in retirement benefits. The dispensers of justice who allege that they are living in stress, despondency and desperation have now referred their matter to the president whom they have called upon to urgently follow up their case. A retired judge is entitled to monthly pay of 900,000 for medical security, housing and vehicle allowance. The personnel are expected to boost the force as it carries out different operations. The MPS have also resolved to avail the force with an additional 2.8 billion shillings to enable them operationalize the police college for specialized training especially in command and control as well as senior leadership positions.
