NEWS UPDATE. CONGRATULATIONS Congratulations to all the winners at the Golden Guitars this year. In regard to bush ballad artists, it was fantastic to see Dean Perrett pick up Bush Ballad of the Year, and Vocal Collaboration of the Year (with Troy Cassar-Daley). Well done Dean (& Troy). It was also special to see all the Bush Ballad finalists pay tribute main stage to Buddy Williams with a group performance of the song Where The White Face Cattle Roam. BACK TO THE BUSH CONCERT Aside from the awards, the ABBA wish to congratulate Dianne Lindsay and Peter Simpson and the Tamworth City Council on the success of the Back to The Bush Concert staged in the Tamworths Bi-Centennial Park on Wednesday night as part of the Tamworth Country Music Festival. The Concert featured all Bush Ballad artists. With very little publicity, mainly word of mouth, the crowd attendance was said to be around 4-5,000. Despite the weather being slightly intimidating, luckily the rain held off, during the event. The concert presentation lighting and sound was outstanding with around 30 major Bush Ballad artists performing a song each with a full band which included the likes of Stui French, Rod Coe, Mike Kerrin, Matt Manning and others. This event was a milestone for Bush Balladeers in Tamworth, and the ABBA salute Dianne Lindsay and Peter Simpson for orchestrating the idea. Next year, we hope to see an even greater crowd attendance for the event, so in the meantime, we ask everyone to spread the word on the success of this years event. THE BALLADEERS HOMESTEAD The Balladeers Homestead, 328 Goonoo Goonoo Road, Tamworth (Salvation Army Complex Hall), was again an outstanding success, with record crowds throughout the week. The ABBA were honoured to have Channel 10 film live from the venue on the Friday 23rd, which immediately went to air Australia wide. The ABC also called in as well and publicised the events at the Homestead. The ABBA sincerely thank Channel 10 and ABC for their support. The ABBA also sincerely thank everyone who attended the Homestead Concerts/Showcases during the week, the radio media who publicised and promoted the Homestead during and leading up to the Tamworth Festival. A BIG THANKYOU to all our helpers and committee who make it all happen and keep everything rolling smoothly during the week.
