NEWS UPDATE NURSE CONVICTED FOR NEGLIGENCE IS ACQUITTED The High Court has ordered the immediate release of Rose Namubiru, a 64-year-old HIV positive nurse who was convicted for negligence. Earlier this year, Namubiru was accused of negligently injecting a two-year-old baby with a cannular that she is believed to have first used on herself. Justice Frank Albert Rugadya upheld her conviction but considered mitigating factors like her advanced age and health. Namubiru committed the crime in January this year and was serving a three year sentence in Luzira prison. She and her relatives say they can now breath a sigh of relief. However, her lawyers say they will also appeal her conviction.
