NEWS UPDATES AT 7 O’CLOCK WITH ORANGE. President Museveni has advised Ugandans to reduce interpersonal associations, describing it as ancient African culture that have led to the widespread of zoonotic diseases and hemorrhagic fevers like Ebola and Marburg. Museveni cited shaking hands, hugging and sharing straws as some of the ancient practices which need to be discarded in order to avert further spread of the two deadly diseases. Uganda today celebrates its 52nd Independence Day. The celebrations will be held at ceremonial grounds Kololo Airstrip. In this regard, Police have issued tight traffic flow guidelines around the grounds in order to ease directions for the guests who are not familiar with the area. White, yellow and blue stickers will be given to different invited guest. Kampala Metropolitan Traffic Police commander Lawrence Niwabiine revealed the white stickers are for VVIPs, who will access Kololo via John Babiha road, connect to Elgon Terrace and park at heroes’ corner. Guests with yellow stickers will also access the ground through the same road, divert at lower Kololo Terrace junction, alight from their vehicles at Golf course road junction to be guided into the grounds on foot. Those with blue stickers will access Kololo via Wampewo Avenue and park at City High School and KCCA grounds near UMA. Lorries and busses related to the function will park at KCCA ground near game shopping mall and UMA. Boda boda cyclists will be restricted to lower and upper Kololo Terraces, Wampewo Avenue and John Babiha road. They will only park at KCCA grounds. The junction of Golf Course road to Wampewo Avenue is restricted to only pedestrians. Senior civil servants will soon be required to attend the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party meetings, Richard Todwong, the Minister without Portfolio In- Charge of Political Mobilisation revealed. Addressing the press in Gulu town, Todwong said civil servants such as the Chief Administrative Officers (CAOs), Sub county chiefs and other district officials shall be required to attend the ruling NRM party meetings since they are the ones responsible for “implementing the NRM party manifesto.” Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has appeared before the International Criminal Court (ICC), where he faces charges of crimes against humanity. He was called to appear at the ICC status conference when the prosecution said evidence needed to go ahead with a trial was being withheld. But the trial has reached a deadlock. The prosecution accuse the Kenyan government of withholding vital evidence, the defence say without evidence there should be no trial. Defence lawyer Steven Kay said Mr Kenyatta would not be making a statement. He said the government had co-operated with the prosecution requests where it was possible to do so. ICC chief prosecutor Fatou Bensouda, who is from The Gambia, said there was still a significant body of evidence against Mr Kenyatta. The prosecution, which wants an indefinite adjournment, told the court it had phone data and nine witnesses who were willing to testify how Mr Kenyatta had funding links with the Mungiki sect which took part in the violence.
