NEXXT LEVEL COLISEUM UPDATE Last night the application of the Coliseum was reviewed by the Planning Board. Here is a condensed version of the outcome: - The parking lot on the northwest corner of the property will be reconfigured and signage will be installed to encourage more complete use of the parking facilities. - 42 additional parking spaces will be “ghosted” into the site plan (meaning they will remain undeveloped until needed). The Township can, at any time, require these spaces be installed should a problem with parking overspill develop. - Vegetative screening in the form of dense evergreen trees (Canadian Hemlocks, for example) will be installed on the north property line of the site. - A night lighting evaluation will be performed to minimize light spillage onto residential areas while still providing adequate illumination for security. - Debris and trash will be removed from the waterway to the north and west of the site. - Any required NJDEP permits will be obtained to help minimize environmental impact. - Facilities within the Coliseum will coordinate tournaments and meets to minimize traffic and parking issues. I would also like to add that the Wellington family and their representatives were more than amenable to every stipulation of the Environmental Commission and Planning Board; stating more than once that they have no desire to be anything less than a valued member of our community. - Ed
