NGC7822 is a molecular cloud of active star formation in the constellation Cepheus and lies about 3,000 light-years distant. Some of the pillars in this image have an almost angelic shape to them. The light from this emission nebula is generated by the radiation of giant hot stars which causes the elemental hydrogen, oxygen and sulfur to fluoresce. The field of view of this image is ~60 light-years.
