NH Trail Report for January 2, 2015 Hope you had a great New Year’s Eve and Day. Here’s to the 2015 riding season, may it be a fun-filled safe one! Some upcoming events to look forward to: the first race in the Great North Woods Vintage Snowmobiling Race series is planned for Saturday, January 10th, 2015; the 2015 Easter Seal Ride-In will be held on February 6th through 8th, 2015; and the NH Snowmobile Museum’s 30th Anniversary celebration will be held February 14-15th. Please remember to stay off lakes and ponds. Even with the return of cold weather most are still not fully frozen. Also please remember to stay OFF plowed roads unless signed open. Areas not reported below should be assumed to be CLOSED at this time. Have a good weekend and think SNOW! Northern NH Pittsburg The club recommends trailering north to Magalloway or Deer Mountain. If you venture out, expect wet areas, open water bars, fallen trees, and some bare spots. Diamond Pond/Coleman State Park 2” to 4” base, 0” new snow. Early season conditions – watch for open water bars and thin areas. Colebrook Trails are not open at this time due to lack of snow. Errol 1” to 4” base, 0” new snow. Early season conditions – watch for open water bars and thin areas. Use caution - not all winter logging operations have moved to their winter logging sites so some areas may be temporally CLOSED. Milan 2” base, 0” new snow. Early season conditions – watch for open water bars and thin areas. Cambridge 4” base, 0” new snow. Early season conditions – watch for open water bars and thin areas. Corridor 18 is CLOSED for the season between junction 150 and 691; use Corridor 18A. Berlin 2” to 6” base, 0” new snow. Early season conditions – watch for open water bars and thin areas. East Side of Berlin/Success Trails are not open at this time due to lack of snow. Gorham 0” to 4” base, 0” new snow. Early season conditions – watch for open water bars and thin areas. Corridor 12 on the Presidential Rail Line in Randolph is CLOSED temporarily due to a bridge that is out. Groveton/Nash Stream Trails are not open at this time due to lack of snow. Groveton Village Trails are not open at this time due to lack of snow. Stratford Trails are not open at this time due to lack of snow. The club is requesting that all ATVs stay off the trails until colder temps return to set up the trails. Dalton No report at this time. Jefferson 0” to 4” base, 0” new snow. Early season conditions – watch for open water bars and thin areas. Corridor 5A rail trail is closed due to lack of snow. Twin Mountain Trails are not open at this time due to lack of snow. Franconia Notch Bike Path Closed Campton/Thornton Closed Central NH Bear Notch/Bartlett 4” to 8” base on the roads, groomed. Use caution as some icy spots. Birch Hill area has open water bars and ice. The railroad tracks are closed until January 4th. Please remember to watch for mushers and cross country skiers. Bridgewater Trails are closed at this time. Castle in the Clouds Trails are closed at this time. Conway Trails are closed at this time. Southern NH Bear Brook State Park Trails are not open at this time. Greenfield State Park Trails are not open at this time. Hopkinton/Everett OHRV trails open, sled trails closed. Pawtuckaway State Park Trails are not open at this time. Pisgah State Park OHRV trails still open, sled trails closed. Watch for trees/branches on trails. Recreational Rail Trails: Please note that the rail corridor gates will remain closed until snow conditions permit grooming the entire length of the trail. Use caution when using pass-throughs. Ashuelot: Gates are closed at this time. Cheshire Line: Gates are closed at this time. Fort Hill Line: Gates are closed at this time. Hillsborough: Gates are closed at this time. Northern: Gates are closed at this time. Sugar River: Not groomed. Railroads that are open for snowmobile use: Concord to Lincoln railroad corridor: Closed until January 2nd Bartlett/Bear Notch rail: Closed until January 5th Whitefield to Groveton/Corridor 5A: Closed at this time. Riding on ACTIVE railroad tracks is illegal and extremely dangerous. Riders should not operate along, within or across active railroads. Railroads that become snowmobile trails are signed open for winter use and noted on this website.
