NHRA requires tether system for removable collector Racers: Are you aware that, if you have removable collector or collector extensions on your race car, you will be required to have a tether system to prevent the removable collectors from coming off the car? Some headers have tabs welded to them and the collector bolts to the primary tubes; this type of attachment WILL BE REQUIRED to have an NHRA-accepted header tether system. There is a list of NHRA-accepted header tether suppliers at nhraracer -- simply click on the NHRA Accepted Product button on the left side, then scroll or go to page 143. As per NHRA Rule Book: Effective January 1, 2014: All removable multi-piece exhaust collector/stacks must be securely fastened with either an NHRA-accepted header tether or a minimum 1/2 stitch weld located on each primary tube to prevent loss of collector/stacks during competition. Prices range from $59.00 to $161.00. The kit you choose is a personal choice. We just wanted you to be aware of the new rule so you dont get thumped at tech in 2014.
