NHS LANARKSHIRE LAUNCHES WIDEST EVER SEARCH FOR NEW NON-EXECUTIVES NHS Lanarkshire is launching its widest ever search for new non-executive board members. Candidates for the top positions are being sought from people throughout Lanarkshire with a varied range of backgrounds and experience. Neena Mahal, Chair of NHS Lanarkshire, said: “We are taking a fresh approach to our recruitment campaign to encourage applications from a truly diverse range of people. We want to find two new non-executive directors who can bring their own unique skills, backgrounds and knowledge to the Board in order to ensure the views of the people of Lanarkshire are represented in key local health decisions.” NHS Lanarkshire is particularly asking people with an interest in health, but who might never have thought of being a non-executive to consider applying. Candidates should live or have their main place of work in the NHS Lanarkshire area. Neena said: “You don’t need to be a health expert. But you will have an enquiring mind and a commitment to helping us improve the health and wellbeing of the people of Lanarkshire. You will receive training and support to learn the new skills you may require. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a difference to your local NHS.” The non-executive posts involve a commitment of eight hours over the course of the week for a remuneration of £8,008 per annum. Completed applications must be received on or before Friday 1 November 2013. The new-look recruitment exercise includes a redesigned information pack with frequently asked questions to explain simply what the role involves. The format of the selection process has also been revised. NHS Lanarkshire is holding community information events to give people the opportunity to find out more about the non-executive positions as well as other ways of getting involved with your local NHS. Information events are being held as follows: • 7 October, 5.30-6.30pm - Burnbank Centre, Burnbank, Hamilton, ML3 0NA • 9 October, 3pm-4pm - Shotts Healthy Living Centre, Kirk Road, Shotts, Lanarkshire, ML7 5ET • 9 October, 4.30-5.30pm - Airdrie Community Health Centre, 88 Graham Street, Airdrie, ML6 6DB • 10 October, 3.30-4.30pm - Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire, Community Hub, Former Church Building, Kenilworth Avenue, Wishaw, Lanarkshire ML2 7LP (Please note that roadworks are taking place in Kenilworth Avenue and a diversion is in place.)
