NIGERIAN MILITARY IN BATTLE FOR MUBI AND MICHIKA * Insurgents repelled from Machika after severe battle * Intensifies airstrikes in Machika hide outs * Face heavy battle in Mubi * Curfew in place to complete weeding process. The on-going aerial onslaught by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on the strategic town of Bama at the weekend has finally led to the forced retreat of Boko Haram terrorists from Borno’s second largest town. The Boko haram in search for where to go, last night launched a counter-offensive on Mubi and Michika, two important towns in Adamawa State with large Christian populations. Michika having come under severe attack by these insurgents, had forced several of its residents to flee the town to neighboring towns and villages. The Nigerian Armys timely response has engaged the insurgents in a fierce battle all through yesterday night till today morning to regain full control of Michika. And so far, the insurgents are finding it hard to make any headway or take control of the town. The NAF fighter jets are bombing the hideouts of the insurgents while foot soldiers battle their locations around Michika local government area secretariat. Same fate applied to the insurgents in their inroad to Mubi as they have been repelled by the superior fire of the Nigerian Army. Executive Director of Stefanos, Mr. Mark Lipdo, quoting military sources in the battle field, said that the military are turning back Nigerians running out of Mubi in reaction to the news of insurgents approaching Mubi town. A curfew is now in place to enable the military restore order as reports say that the military are gaining ground over the insurgents.
