NIGHTMARISH SITUATION IN LIBERIAS EBOLA STRUGGLE In the front - TopicsExpress

NIGHTMARISH SITUATION IN LIBERIAS EBOLA STRUGGLE In the front page of todays New York Times, a correspondent of this premier US newspaper reported from Monrovia, a nightmarish scenario of the spreading Ebola virus amidst hunger, looting, community revulsion at poorly communicated government decisions, a collapsed health-care system and civilian clashes with security forces in the West Point neighborhood. The West Point community is a residential slum of up to 120,000 inhabitants near Central Monrovia and is heavily populated with ex-child soldiers, ex-combatants and demobilized NPFL soldiers of the regime of jailed ex-President Charles Taylor. Liberia is now said to be the country where the Ebola virus is spreading the fastest.
