NO.686 SHEIK AREGBESOLA MEDICAL CENTRE The Sheik Ali Aregbesola Medical Centre at Irogbo in Atakumosa East Local Government Area of the State will receive a face lift in the next six months. This disclosure was made yesterday In Irogbo by the Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola during the annual baby show of the Medical Centre put together by the committee in charge of the Centre. Sheik Ali Aregbesola Medical Centre, a pet project of the members of Aregbesola’s family was established in 2008 as a philanthropic programme to support the people of Irogbo Community and environs to have access to quality health care, free of charge. Speaking further, the Governor said that, the show is a celebration of the founding fathers of Irogbo town which is over a thousand years old. He said, considering the number of good things being witnessed in the town, especially with the establishment of the medical Centre which will bring healthcare to the doorsteps of the downtrodden. He explained that, the presence of the medical centre in the community has gone a long way in complementing the efforts of the state government in health care delivery for the people of the state. Expressing joy over the services rendered by the medical centre, Ogbeni Aregbesola explained that, about two hundred thousand patients have benefited from free medical treatment at the centre, over two hundred babies have been delivered while forty two of them were delivered this year. Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of the Medical Centre, Prince Felix Awofisayo noted that, the medical centre has been of tremendous assistance to the residents of Atakumosa East Local Government in the area of child delivery and treatment of various ailments. Prince Awofisayo appealed to public spirited individuals to support the Sheik Aregbesola Medical Centre with a view to meeting its challenges as a result of increased patronage which was not initially envisaged. Highpoint of the event was the unveiling of modern medical equipment bought by members of the Aregbesola extended families who are the benefactors of the centre, presentation of gift to babies who were delivered at the medical centre as well as foundation laying of Irogbo Model Primary School. Present at the occasion were members of the state executive council, state parliamentarians, ACN party executives among others. NO.687 NEW CHAIRMAN NUJ INFO CHAPEL PLACES HIGH PREMIUM ON MEMBERS WELFARE. The new Chairman, State Information Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalist Comrade Gideon Adegboye has pledged the commitmentof his team to the placement of high premium on welfare of members of the chapel. Comrade Adegboye stated this in his acceptance speech after the swearing-in of the new executive members of the chapel, at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Information and strategy.| He said that position of authority which is more of privilege than merit, is usually laden with diverse temptation, promising that the challenge before him shall be faced with utmost dedication and sincerity for him to contribute in his own small way to the development of humanity. Comrade Gideon Adegboye then assured that the cordial relationship already in existence between the chapel and the state council will be sustained. NO.688 OSUN BEGINS REGISTRATION OF MOTORCYCLE AND TRICYCLE ON MONDAY The Government of the state of Osun in collaboration with Synercom Nigeria Limited will commence the registration of all motorcycles and tricycles operators and owners in the state on Monday 15th July, 2013. A statement issued and signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Transport, Engr, Oladepo Amudah explained that the essence of the program is to curb the crime rate in the sector and to make sure that the state becomes crime free According to the statement, the program tagged O-TRANS assisted by O-TRAM, VIO and relevant law enforcement agencies in the state will hold at Superintendents Engineer’s office of the Ministry of Works and Transport at Iwo, Ede, Ilesa, Ife, Ikirun, and VIO office Testing Ground Osogbo. NO.689 AREGBESOLA TO FLAG OFF EAST BY-PASS TOMORROW The Governor of the state of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola will tomorrow morning perform the official flag off of the construction of the Oba Adesoji Aderemi East bypass and carriageway, Osogbo. Venue of the ceremony is opposite Ebun Oluwa International School, Ofatedo. A statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Transport, Engr, Oladepo Amudah disclosed that, the 17.40km road awarded to Slava Yeditepe Projects Limited at the contract sum of #14,568,005, will be completed in the next twelve months. The statement, therefore, enjoined members of the State Executive Council, House of Assembly members, party stalwarts, Babaloja and Iyaloja’s and other well wishers to attend the epoch programme. NO.690 COMMISSIONER CONGRATULATES MUSLIMS ON RAMADAN Commissioner for Home Affairs, Culture and Tourism, Alhaji Sikiru Adetona Ayedun has congratulated all Muslims in the state of Osun on the Month of Ramadan This is contained in a press release signed by the Commissioner in his office. Alhaji Ayedun advised the Muslims to fast as prescribed by Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW), by exhibiting the virtues of generosity, love and kindness. Alhaji Ayedun also enjoyed adherents of Islam to relate harmoniously with believers of other religions in the state. While praying for the development and progress of the state, the Commissioner implored all citizens to join hands with Governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola so that he can move the state forward. NO.691 MISTY, CLOUDY EARLY MORNING EXPECTED THIS WEEK-END IN THE STATE OF OSUN FORECAST Early misty and cloudy afternoon should be expected in a weather forecast obtained from the Weather Control Tower, Ido Osun in Ede by the Ministry of Environment and Sanitation, New Secretariat Complex Gbongan Road. According to the forecast, in addition to the partly cloudy morning experience of today Friday, light air with moderate rain of the upper hours of the morning shall extend from afternoon to the evening. On Saturday 13th July, light breeze with moderate rain should be expected later in the day and night. The cloudy afternoon of Sunday the 14th shall usher in rainfall later in the day and in the night. The early morning mist of Monday the 15th shall provoke moderate breeze while moderate rain shall be expected later in the day. NO.692 OSUN ASSEMBLY COMMENDS AREGBESOLA ON ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVITIES The Chairman, State of Osun House of Assembly Committee on Environment and Sanitation, Hon. Folarin Fafowora, has lauded the efforts of the Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, on environmental and beautification activities in the state describing it, as the best you could see in developed countries. Hon. Fafowora who gave the commendation during an interactive session with officials of the Ministry of Environment and Sanitation led by the Commissioner in- charge of the Ministry, Prof. Olubukola Oyawoye, at the Conference Room of the parliament. She added that, the flood control mechanism introduced by the Governor to tackle the menace of flood in the state has prevented flooding to a considerable extent. Justifying the invitation extended to the Ministry to appear before the committee, Hon. Fafowora said the exercise was not to witch- hunt any member of the executive but rather to enable any member of the executive give account of their stewardship to the people of the state in line with the oversight function of the House. Earlier in her account of stewardship, the Hon. Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, Prof. Olubukola Oyawoye, flanked by the Special Adviser to the Governor on same matter ,Hon. Bola Ilori, said through the aforestation programme of the Ministry, government has distributed about two hundred and fifty (250) million seedlings worth millions of naira free of charge to members of the public including public secondary schools in the state so as to achieve the desired result of forest re-generation and aforestation. Speaking further, Prof. Oyawoye stated that, over one hundred and fifty (150) hectares of land has been acquired by the government for the planting of the said seedlings which, when matured, will no doubt be a source of revenue (IGR) for the state in no distance future. It would also assist in militating against flooding and desertification. The Commissioner then disclosed that the Governor has approved a task force to go round the forest to check activities of illegal saw millers and this has yielded good results in terms of checkmating the illegal fellers of trees. Professor Oyawoye also said that, private estate forestry holders are being encouraged to participate in the tree planting exercise so as to spread the concept behind “Igi-Iye” and the other environmental control activities of the government. NO.693 AREGBESOLA RECEIVES KUDOS ON CAPITAL PROJECTS The Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has continue to receive kudos from cross-sections of the people for embarking on capital projects that have direct impact on the people. Such projects include building of schools, massive road construction and rehabilitation across the length and breadth of the state. Mr. Emmanuel gave the commendation while speaking with the project monitoring team, Ministry of Information and Strategy led by the Director, Social Mobilization and Strategy, Mr. Bunmi Oladele. The Site Supervisor, L.A Elementary School, Imo, Ilesa, Mr. Adeyemi Emmanuel commended the Governor for his vision and transformation agenda towards educational development saying the 24 classrooms with halls and modern state of the facilities’ for the teachers and pupils is second to none in Nigeria’s history. According to him, the Elementary School had reached 85 per cent completion and would be ready for delivery by the end of August, 2013. He therefore thanked the government for making the construction easy as he has met up with the financial obligations to the contractors. Speaking in the same vein the Site Engineer, AUD Elementary School, Isale Agbara, Osogbo, Engr. Kazeem Adedapo had applauded the Governor for patronizing building construction experts as well as acquiring the most expensive materials for the construction of the school. Engr. Adedapo noted that, the newly constructed schools would span over 60years with the quality of materials which ranges from wire-glass windows, aluminum doors, long span roofing sheets, tile stones and concrete blocks of high standards. Also commending the Governor, the Head Mistress, L.A Elementary School, Imo, Ilesa, Mrs. Mary Ayodeji, said Governor Aregbesola has brought joy and happiness into the lives of the teachers through his kind gestures by providing a friendly school environment as they are impatient to move into the newly constructed school. She emphasized that, the Governor apart from increasing teachers salary, has also increased their running grants as well as giving promotion and incentives to them. In their own contributions the duo of Miss Tina James and Master Ibiyemi Oluwasunkanmi who are pupils of the school thanked the Governor for providing them better school, free-uniform, free feeding and free education. They prayed God Almighty to bless the Governor and his team. NO. 694 O-MEALS STATE OPERATION OFFICER CALLS ON LOCAL GOVT EDUCATON EDUCATION SECRETARIES FOR SUPPORT The State Operation Officer for Elementary School Feeding and Health Programme (O-MEALS), Mrs. Olubumi Ayoola has called on the 31 newly appointed Local Government Education Secretaries to work harmoniously with the O-MEALS Planning Officers in their respective Local Government areas. Mrs. Ayoola made the call today in Osogbo while holding a crucial meeting with the Education Secretaries on the achievements of O-MEALS programme in the state. According to her, Governor Aregbesola re-vitalised the programme last year by creating a sustainable template for every succeeding administration. She also made it known that the State Government is spending N50 on daily basis per pupil and that over 252,000 pupils in primary one to four are benefiting thereby making daily expenditure on school feeding to be N12.7Million daily. The O-MEALS State Programme Officer then stressed that, the programme has impacted positively on the school children as it has increased enrolment figures, ensured regular attendance and improved concentration of pupils in schools. It has also improved their physical development and health status apart from the economic benefits to farmers, traders and food contractors that are supplying beef, chicken, eggs and fish and other food items being consumed as all of them are based in the state. While congratulating the Local Government Education Secretaries on their appointment, she also called on them to encourage old students associations and philanthropist to join hands with the State Government to ensuring that the school feeding programme does not fail.
