NO BOOTSTRAP IS THIS STRONG Wage theft is a common practice in this country. All the blathering about pulling yourself up by your bootstraps is done by people whove never been shorted on their pay, never had to worry about sick leave, never been in a situation where their employer was deliberately screwing them and getting away with it. I have friends whove had direct experience with this. One works at a place run by a famous airline that many people just love; the other worked at a warehouse run by a famous athletic apparel company that many people love. (The airline worker makes LESS THAN minimum wage. Yes, this is legal. He busts his ass on the job. Hes an excruciatingly responsible worker.) Both were routinely shorted on their pay, and when they questioned why their paychecks didnt reflect the actual hours worked, were lied to by their employers. This goes on all over the country, in all kinds of workplaces. So its a rare pleasure when such employees actually win a battle once in a while against their cheating overlords.
