NO CRACK, NO WORD - The problem with Testimonial Ministry is simple. In order make a story convincing and effective you must weave a tale that is so incredible, so dramatic, so exciting, so remarkable that it stirs the juices of interest and stokes the fires of imagination and wholly engages an audience. While nothing Holy about it, add a little bit here and edit a bit there, by the time the speaker is done, a tale has been woven and constructed that rivals any Reality TV segment. The problem is, the salacious nature of that drug dealing, pimping, balling, partying past risks challenging, in all its colorful, vivid depictions, any story from the WORD. So, as the speaker delightfully “reminisces” about the good old days and demonstrates his swag, his walk and talk, his wardrobe and whip, his winning, inescapable charisma that has you seated obediently, robotically, fully attentive in your permanent, proper pew position, remember as you laugh along with him, there’s a story you were meant to hear that you’re not hearing; certainly not with the same flair, pinache, passion and purpose. You get 5 minutes of scripture, 10 minutes of teaching and 45 minutes of titillating testimonial tales, overtly intended to excite and more subtly, cleverly intended to arouse. Do you know the difference between Jude and Judas? Do you really know enough about Matthew, Mark, Luke and John; Hannah, Hagar, Leah, Naomi, Oprah, Rachel, Rebekah, Ruth, Sarah, Mary and Mary; Simon, Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Andrew, James and Jesus that you can afford to spend an hour every Sunday morning listening to Pastor’s exhausted “Look at me Now” testimony? Pastors, I humbly suggest you get over yourselves and teach when you preach! Consider; (meaning: Pray about), trading in the Benz or the Bentley and the $10,000 outfits for a Chevy and a simple suit or dress (or God forbid, a robe), then reintroduce yourself to your flock and say “Look at me NOW.” Use some of that $$$ to minister! Too humble a proposition? I know; it’s hard not to sell out! Bottom line; we need to be blessed, taught and trained, not entertained! We need the WORD! The Living HOLY WORD; Sanctified and Consecrated! JUST AS I AM; I AM LIVING PROOF OF THE WORD! ARE YOU NOT? Peace! I M NOT AFRAID!!!
