NO PAIN! NO GAIN! I am very fond of watching MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) not because the of the thrill of the fight but I am highly impressed and motivated when I see their six-pack abs, with matching defined and well sculptured muscles of the fighters. It is an inspiration to me and I was praying that I will have body just like theirs. But this was one thing I realised, after watching it for years, nothing seems to happen to my body. It was not taking shape the way it was supposed to. My body did not transform while watching the sport. Who was I kidding, watching it and being inspired was not enough for me to get to where my body wants to be. VISION WITHOUT ACTION = FRUSTRATION Just like our own boxing icon, Manny Pacquiao. Just to give you an idea of what I am talking about, look at one of his regimen. Running for 10 miles (stamina building) 8 rounds of shadow boxing 15 rounds of sparring 10 rounds of speed bag 10 rounds of heavy bag 7 rounds of Jump rope 2 sets of Ab crunches of 100 reps 2 sets of knee ups of 100 reps 2 sets of diagonal crunches (both sides) of 100 reps 2 sets of alternate bicycles of 100 reps 2 sets of leg scissors of 100 reps 2 sets of vertical leg crunches of 100 reps 2 sets of side crunches of 100 reps 2 sets of floor wipers of 100 reps 2 sets of Russian twists of 100 reps 10 rounds of agility ladder drills (speed workout) Read more: workoutinfoguru/manny-pacquiao-workout/#ixzz2zBz8IBm3 I got really tired already after reading these long lines of things that he was doing. A lot people want to become a Manny Pacquiao but only a few are willing to pay the price of being one. As the spirit of Holy Week sets in, slowing down and taking a rest is on top of my list. My wife challenged and inspired me to do otherwise. She encouraged me to take this time off to start a new regimen in order for me stay and live healthy. So I took the challenge and started a TRX Training with my personal COACH JACO BENIN. What is TRX Training? Delivers a fast, effective total-body workout Helps build a rock-solid core Increases muscular endurance Benefits people of all fitness levels (pro athletes to seniors) Can be set-up anywhere (gym, home, hotel or outside) By utilizing your own bodyweight, the TRX Suspension Trainer provides greater performance and functionality than large exercise machines costing thousands of dollars. (trxtraining/suspension-training) I started the exercise and boy it looks simple but not easy. After the entire workout, I felt someone injected me with so much energy drink in my system and numbness on my body. I was trying to catch for my breath, as if I was drowning out of pain and fatigue. THINGS I LEARNED FROM THIS TRX TRAINING. IT LOOKS SIMPLE BUT NOT EASY. TRX training is just a bunch of ropes with no heavy lifting. I told myself Kaya ko ito. Mukhang hindi naman mahirap. But when I was doing it already, pushing and balancing my own body weight. I was speaking to myself, Hindi pala ito ganito kabilis. Mahirap din pala. That is how things also looks like whenever we plan something in life. It may look good on paper but once we implement it, it takes a life on its own. It is harder than we thought. So what do you do, if things are not working according to plan? LEARN HOW TO ADJUST. When I was starting the workout, I was really doing it fast, but as I was doing my second and third set. I felt my gas tank was running out, my cardio was already giving up. Everything I was doing seems to get heavier and harder. So Coach Jaco instructed me to take it slow and adjust to my pace. So when things are not coming along your way, do not be disheartened and discourage, but learn immediately on how to adjust. What are the things that you need to change? Is it your way of thinking? Is it the way you do things? Is it your strategy or the target market you want to reach? Learn to adjust. Do not be stubborn. If you keep on doing the same things over and over again, never expect a different result. Learn how to adjust and adapt to change. One last thing before I end this blog. NEVER GIVE UP. One of the hardest thing I did was the rope exercise. I have create waves by flapping not my arms but using my body. My arms must be steady and only thing that was allowed to move was to bend my body up and down. It was really straining and painful! After the first set, I felt like giving up. But I know, if I give up, I will never be able to become a MMA fighter one day. I have to pay the price of pain in order to gain the prize of seeing myself in UFC. (Just kidding!) When I finished the first session, Coach Jaco informed me that he has a good news and not so good news. Let me break the not so good news first. He said, Tomorrow you are going to experience pain. Sa loob loon ko lang, Obvious ba? Nanakit na lahat ng mga kalamanan ko! At sumisigaw na ng Alaxan! So I asked what was the good news? He replied, Tomorrow you are going to experience pain. Pain is good, it means your muscles are being stretched and tissues are being destroy, so it will regenerate and build better and stronger ones. Ganoon din sa buhay. Huwag kang susuko! No matter what type of pain you are going through today. It maybe emotional, mental, financial, physical or relational pain. Remember pain is good, it exist not destroy us but it is there to make us better and stronger. Remember the motto of an athlete No Pain, No Gain! For the army No Retreat, No Surrender! For the marines, No Guts, No Glory! For the security guard, No I.D. No Entry! Till my next blog. Btw, Coach Jaco can also coach you at the comfort of your home.
