NO SUCH THING AS RESISTANCE For who you truly are, there is no such thing as resistance. Imagine a room in a house, a perfect room. The contents of the room - chairs, tables, people loving and fighting and dancing and resting, noise and silence, light and dark - is constantly changing, moving, evolving. The room itself is the constant presence in which this maelstrom plays itself out. The room never moves or changes, no matter how intense the contents becomes. Yes, resistance can appear as part of the contents of the room, as can frustration, fear, anger, helplessness, despair, and so on. But the room itself, as the space for all of this, cannot resist, and cannot do acceptance - it can only hold whatever appears, even if what appears is resistance. This embrace is not an achievement, or a goal, or even a special state, but how the room is built. The room is PURE ACCEPTANCE OF ITS CONTENTS, without an opposite. That is its nature. You are like this perfect room. Always open, always awake, always already embracing your ever-changing contents, your thoughts and feelings, your passing states of consciousness. You cannot reach your room-like state (enlightenment), for it is already your true nature, just as the wave can never reach the ocean. For who you truly are, there is no acceptance to do, and no resistance to resist, no non-acceptance to destroy. There is just the constant embrace of your ever-changing contents - your thoughts, feelings, sensations, memories, dreams, imaginations. You are the calm in the midst of the storm, the space for all of life. For who you truly are, resistance is not an enemy, but an impossibility. Understand this, and the entire spiritual search crumbles to the ground.
