**NOAH SPOILER ALERT** Ok, so I went and seen the movie Noah this evening and just wanted to share some thoughts. If youre going into this film expecting a film based solely on the biblical account you will be disappointed. In the films defense, I dont believe they have marketed it as such either. It is inspired by the biblical story of Noah. The best summary I can offer would be, it is like if J.R. Tolkien made a film based on Noah. A lot of fantasy, magic, & mystical adventure. A pretty big stretch of the concept of the sons of god referenced in Genesis with the watchers characters (think bad Transformers characters). There are definitely some good aspects to the movie as well, the account of creation by the Creator, biblical references, etc. , but it is doused with some environmentalist doctrine, some meat eaters are bad, plant eaters are good representations and does take creative liberty with quite a few aspects of the story (hard to make a 2 1/2 hour film with only a few chapters of biblical reference). My biggest issue with the film overall is I feel like the goal, what was to be accomplished through the flood, was misrepresented and portrayed God as only a God of justice and not a God of grace, both of which are actually true. All in all, I will take a film that creates dialogue about God, The Bible, sin, judgment, redemption any day over what is normally released from Hollywood. I wouldnt necessarily endorse the film, but am glad I went to see it. I hope ultimately that it makes people do a self examination and points them to the cross of Christ whether or not that was the filmmakers intentions.
