NORTH ZONE CRIME WATCH GROUPS Over 1000 residents strong representing Cedar Valley, Crosbies, Fitches Creek, Mt. Pleasant, ParadiseView, and Royal Gardens PRESS RELEASE Issued by the North Zone Crime Watch Group on Monday, 28 December 2014 With the recent home invasion and attack on Phillip and June Abbott by 4 criminals, the North Zone Crime Watch Group believes that the government must act more quickly and aggressively than previously discussed. Therefore, we call on the Commissioner of Police, the Minister of Justice (AG), the rural North Member of Parliament the Honorable Charles Max Fernandez, and/or the Prime Minister to address the Nation on this spate of Home Invasions (with Terrorist Tactics) on what plans they have developed to curb this worrying trend. According to Sir Richie Richardson, a resident of Cedar Valley, Antiguans should not have to fear that they will be murdered or maimed as they relax peacefully in their homes. These attacks arent just on individuals, they are an attack on our society and they are killing the Antigua that we love. We need to act now!. We want to reiterate the list of urgent recommendations made to the Attorney General, Commissioner of Police and Chief of Defense Force at our recent meeting: • Special investigative team to be set up to aggressively pursue the gang of terrorists. • 24/7 operations for the Langfords and Coolidge Police Stations. • Roving rapid response teams to quickly respond to violent crime and home invasions. • Resolving of communication issues between 911 and police districts. • Legislative changes to help the people and the police fight crime better. • Education campaign to residents about their rights and responsibilities under the law regarding defense of themselves and their property.
