NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - Winter is just about a month and a half away, and if you have a snow blower, you should be making sure it’s in good working order before the flakes start to fall. Paul Czapienski of Foster Farrar in Northampton said that there are some important things you should be checking on. “Number one: change the oil. If you have fuel in there from last year and you didn’t have a fuel stabilizer in there, drain the fuel out, and after that, put in a brand new spark plug check your belts. Make sure they’re in good shape,” Czapienski said. You should also check the auger and adjust any cables. Clean your snow blower off and start it up. It is important to do this now, because if you need to have it serviced, it could take about a week before it’s ready for use. Also, if you do not have a snow blower, now may be the time to buy, as demand tends to go way up after Thanksgiving.
