NOSEY NEEDS OUR HELP AGAIN – Nosey is performing and giving rides with the Family Fun Circus today and tomorrow (Nov. 12 and 13) in Corsicana, TX at the Navarro County Exposition Center. Please contact the center to express your concern and opposition to her use there. Recent video of Nosey demonstrates that she is significantly lame and certainly in pain. Foot and joint disease are major causes of premature death in captive elephants. Giving rides and performing circus tricks will only increase her pain and threaten her life. Last year Nosey’s exhibitor Hugo Liebel was fined as the result of USDA charges claiming more than 30 welfare violations for which Liebel had repeatedly been cited. These included failure to provide adequate veterinary care as well as safe handling violations that put Nosey and the public at risk. Liebel’s mishandling presents an ongoing danger to Nosey and to the public. No one should support an exhibitor with such a history of contempt for Nosey’s welfare or for laws intended to protect people and animals. We have advocated tirelessly for Nosey for many years, and she needs our help again.
