NOT REALLY a fan, but I was looking for a movie that saved me from thinking (to kill time after a thoroughly enjoyable lunch with old buddies at Rockwell Mesa). But I keep thinking every time I watch a bad movie. So, did this one have nice special effects? Did it simply drown me in astounding visuals and images? Yes to both. Did it make me not-think so I could either go to sleep or just watch mindlessly? No. It made me think. Boy, what a think! From a post-Apocalyptic New York and China after the last War, and all of sudden Wolverine wakes up in the 70s with “Time in a Bottle” playing on the stereo. Haha. (There’s more of it for hipsters like us, but not too much.) It left me some existential questions, delivered a few laughs, much wit, lots of punch, character, and I did begin to wonder again about the human (mutant) condition. This new X-Men here (“Days of Future Past”) gets away with it. I sat through and thoroughly enjoyed myself. 98% FRESH says my fave review site, Rotten Tomatoes. Not sour at all. Marvelous from Marvel (the ex-comics). Go see for yourself.
