NOT THAT YOU ASKED, OR ANYTHING, BUT HERES WHAT I THINK: The US - TopicsExpress

NOT THAT YOU ASKED, OR ANYTHING, BUT HERES WHAT I THINK: The US House and its Republican majority, just passed a legislation declaring President Obamas immigration reform executive action null and void. What the President did is legal, constitutional, supported by ample precedent, and needed. The Senate wont take up the House legislation, much less pass it. And even after Republicans are in the majority in both chambers in January, if they push it both chambers, President Obama will veto it. The vote is a meaningless waste of time and of your tax dollars. The old line that Republicans are frugal when it comes to sending government money is as out of date as buggy whips. Theyve spent millions of your tax dollars tilting at political windmills and show no sign of ceasing. Its your money they are wasting. Speak up if you object. More troublesome, however, is that the vote signals after the November elections that gave them majorities in both chambers, Republicans seem much more interested in putting on Kabuki theater shows than in actually governing. If you dont think the American people are going to see through the farce that appears to be in store for the country with the Republicans in control of Congress over the next two years, guess again. Yes, the way Republicans have perverted the election system - rampant gerrymandering, virtually unlimited campaign spending by billionaires and corporations, enacting voter suppression laws to keep likely Democratic voters from voting, intimidating likely Democratic voters who do show up at the polls, and a willingness to say and do anything to win an election - facts, science, history and truth no longer matter, it will be a challenge. But I believe in democracy and the ultimate wisdom of the people. And in hard work. I believe in hard work. Thats the key. The certainty of Republican over-reach, and the nonsense they will cough up instead of governing, are no guarantee that Democrats will win in 2016. The key ingredient that must be part of the winning equation is hard, determined work by Democrats - to do their part to govern responsibly, which they have already demonstrated a commitment to do and are doing, and to win. Chickens may come home to roost where they belong, but election victories dont. You have go go out and round them up. The sooner we - you and I - get started the better. Thats what I think. Not that you asked or anything.
