NOTICE: McGill Compliments has received several inboxes requesting (sometimes demanding) that I post a PSA about todays GA asking students to go vote for one side or another. I will not use McGill Compliments as a platform to gain political traction, and any further requests to do so will not be acknowledged. I will say this, though. The issues being brought up at todays GA are inherently complex, messy and - more significantly - tied to the identity and sense of self of many members of our McGill community. Regardless of the outcome of todays vote, students will most likely be both positively and negatively affected - including myself! People may feel hurt, angry, and rejected at the most fundamental level. Id like to remind everyone that regardless of our background and views, we are all McGillians, and that makes us all colleagues, and even brethren at some level. Embrace the diversity of opinions that make our student body so rich and special. Ive learned something each and every day here because of it. So at the end of the day, when the sparks die down and a decision is made one way or the other, do not feel dejected, because no matter what goes down, YOUR IDENTITY AND VOICE ARE VALUED AND IMPORTANT. One love.
