NOVEMBER 12TH POST King Galbreath stood at his veranda, watching Goldspie struggle to bring him word of that which he already knew. Galbreath had never been more aware of a situation than the one he found himself in now. It was to begin. Still, he took that fleeting moment to think of his son Munro. His first born had been brave and valiant to the end. The only thing that the King clung to in moments of despair was the sliver of hope that he might be alive. He thought of Cairn, and could not help but wonder on the mystery of her fate. There were many unanswered questions about the night of the disappearance. Some, in his solitude, plagued him to near madness. Taking a deep breath the King surveyed his kingdom. The castle was guarded by several garrisons of highly skilled soldiers. The outlying villages were also put on guard, and had been for almost a year, since the incident. Beyond the pasture lands, toward the Northerland Mountains more of his troops stood ready. Months had gone by without a single inkling of who or why Cairn was taken. Still on edge, and after much thought he had dispatched more units to the South, as far as the ocean. It was this unit that his second son had joined. Insistent on training in this elite guard, Sheanun would not be dissuaded. He had always been hot headed, but when his brother did not return, he became a force to be reckoned with.
