NOVEMBER 2014: What a month! I went through all of the records - TopicsExpress

NOVEMBER 2014: What a month! I went through all of the records that date back to 1893, and here is what I found out about this past November. SNOWFALL: We saw 19.1 of snowfall in South Bend. This is the fifth most snow South Bend has seen in November since records began in 1893! 1977 (30.3), 1951 (23.4), 1976 (21.6), and 1911 (20.5) were the only Novembers to have seen more snow. For what its worth, every one of those years saw more than normal (66.6) of snowfall for the season, with 1977-1978 seeing the most snow on record of 172. TEMPERATURES: November 2014 will go in the books as the 6th coldest November since records began in 1893. The average high was 42° (6.2° below normal), and the average low was 26.8° (6.5° below normal). November 2014 will also go down in the books as having the most days at or below freezing with 13 days. The old record was 10 days set back in 1903. THIS WEEK: Although November was certainly active, the start of December looks very quiet with temperatures generally near normal for the first week of the month.
