NOW OCTOBER 7, 2013 Fatfat: Hezbollah, Miqati coordinating to keep caretaker govt Future bloc MP Ahmad Fatfat suggested that Hezbollah and resigned Prime Minister Najib Miqati are working together on obstructing the formation of a new cabinet in order to keep the current government in place. “The disruption of the cabinet formation is the result of Hezbollah setting conditions [for the government lineup]… This might be a sort of [cooperation] between the caretaker premier and themselves so as the current cabinet persists and we reach presidential vacuum, and therefore the government would replace the presidency,” Fatfat told Akhbar al-Yawm news agency on Monday. Lebanon is still waiting for the formation of a new government by Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam. Salam’s latest proposal is based on giving a third share to each of the opposing political blocks – March 14 and March 8, and a third share to centrists. Hezbollah and the Free Patriotic Movement are objecting to the PM-designate’s proposal and are requesting a ministerial share that reflects their parliamentary size. Meanwhile, the Future Movement and other March 14 parties claim that they will not be part of a cabinet in which Hezbollah participates. https://now.mmedia.me/lb/en/lebanonnews/fatfat-hezbollah-miqati-coordinating-to-keep-caretaker-govt
