NPCC to go ahead with 12-hr Dimapur bandh Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has decided to go ahead with its proposed 12-hour bandh in Dimapur on December 3 as part of its agitation for the removal of health and family welfare minister Imkong L. Imchen. In a statement, NPCC media cell said the decision was taken as the state government remained non-committal while wholly engrossed in festive mood. NPCC appealed to all NGOs, civil societies, student bodies, business organizations/ associations, trade unions and right thinking citizens to extend co-operation. The public have been requested to bear with the inconvenience caused as it has become unavoidable in view of the state government’s refusal to remove the “tainted minister”. NPCC has requested district administration and the police to take precautionary measures to ensure that no untoward incident happens during the bandh from 6 a.m. till 6 p.m. The bandh will be for total shutdown of all business establishments, government establishments including banks, stopping movement of vehicular traffic and total restrictions on movement which also extends to staffs of railways, airport/airlines except officials and volunteers on duty. Those exempted from the purview of the bandh include military personnel; police and law enforcing agencies; magistrates on duty; medical staff; media persons with IDs; guests for attending weddings with invitation card within given timeframe; students appearing board exams in full school uniform and in possession of ID cards; school buses and private vehicles including auto rickshaws carrying exam bound students only. These vehicles would have to wait till the duration of exam was over and return back with students. DCCI appeals to NPCC Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has appealed Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) to reconsider its decision to call a 12-hour Dimapur bandh on December 3. Requesting the NPCC to defer its proposed bandh till the festive season was over, DCCI in a press release said it was not against the proposed bandh but was making the request based on moral responsibility on behalf of the general public. DDCI argued that December fell within the festive season when thousands of people from other parts of the state come to Dimapur for shopping. Calling for a bandh during this season would not only cripple the normal life of the town but also spoil the festive mood of the people, DCCI said. DCCI said it was making the appeal to NPCC as a matured political party who could understand the sentiments of the public. Meanwhile, DCCI grievances cell convener Akashe Zhimomi has lauded Naga political groups who have declared not to collect any form of donation in the name of festive season. He said such gesture shown by national workers would be appreciated by all. DCCI also strongly condemned the abduction and killing of a businessman - Kishori Prasad stating that perpetrators of such crime should not be allowed to exist in the society. It also lauded the Chekiye Youth Organization for helping the police in nabbing those involved in the crime. DCCI urged the law enforcing agency to leave no stone unturned in its probe to nab the absconding criminals and asked authorities not to grant bail to any of those involved in the crime. DCCI also conveyed condolence to the family members of late Kishori and prayed for eternal solace of the departed soul. source : we the Nagas.
