NRM FAILS TO RESPOND TO SUIT IN COURT BY MEMBER The Ruling National Resistance Movement has failed to respond to a suit from one of its members who is demanding for payment of money NRM borrowed for its party activities. The money was reportedly used to update the party register for its 2010 primaries ahead of the general elections in 2011 but NRM failed to pay. Patel Arvind who is a former NRM’s national treasurer for the entrepreneurs’ league says he has sued his party because both the secretary general and the chairman have ignored him. Court gave NRM party chance to file in its defense within 15 days or judgment be passed in their absence if they fail to do so but NRM has never appeared. Through his lawyers of Muwema and Mugerwa Advocates, Patel now seeks to recover his money at a 26% interest from the date of filing this suit until full payment. Patel says money lenders are taking his property because NRM has failed to pay back the money. END
