NSA Maryland does not have anything negative to say about any organization or person involved in any organization. I have said since day one, if a team has the ability to win state championships in multiple organizations that would be great. Meat and I both agree that softball in Maryland and in general is not what it used to be and are looking to help change that. We are looking at everything from the top down, sponsors, teams, players, umpires, leagues, etc. We are also not looking to make a living from the sport as others have, this is not a knock or being critical of anyone that does, we just choose not to. As I also stated from the beginning we are an open book, you have questions ask and we will give you a truthful answer. With that said, here is an opinion or fact, take it however you choose (living in the USA I have that right): Any one person or organization that prevents an umpire, director, etc. from working with another organization in order for that person to make some “side” money is extremely petty and I personally have no use for them. If this is a professional business than by all means do what you choose, but the last time I looked this was a “game”. Some of these guys depend on that little extra money every week or year and to take that away is unbelievable to me. Anyone with NSA Maryland is free to do what they choose, if we sign you to a contract and pay you a salary that is another story, but I do not see that happening. I hope that everything works out next year and we have plenty of “games” for everyone to be involved in and make the “side” money working a “game” that you want based on living in the USA and having that right. A note on fields; most field are owned by the public and as a member of the public I have a right to use those fields at the same cost as everyone else does. If anyone or any organizations attempts to stop or prevent that from happening, there are people called “public officials” that will be involved in short order as to why that is happening. Also as always and because we live in the USA, Meat has a right to his own opinion. These may not always be in line with mine but he has that right. Up to this point I have been very positive towards other people and organizations and will continue to be but be very careful what cape you start tugging on. H.Hebb
