NSE Daily market report-23 June 2014 - The market edged higher during the day, as the benchmark NSE 20 index gained 0.4% to close at 4843.36 points and turnover fell 36.7% at KES 598.1m. Gains were recorded on the large caps, as Kengen added 7.7% to KES 10.45 and DTB gained 6.4% to KES 267.00 with its rights issue scheduled to open on 30th June. Of other notable gainers in the day, Home Africa gained 3.3% to KES 4.70 after the firm was quoted in the dailies having signed a KES 1bn joint venture to set up housing units in Nigeria while transcentury added 3.1% to KES 24.75. Express Kenya was the leading loser shedding 6.8% to KES 6.20, extending losses from the previous session. Top movers Safaricom, Equity Bank jointly representing 53.5% of the day’s value traded, remained unchanged to close at KES 12.80 and KES 44.25 respectively.
