NSF responds to GPRN/NSCN Reacting to the rejoinder by GPRN/NSCN, the NSF Wednesday maintained that the July 1 bandh was not only against the attempt on the life of its official but also to show resentment of the general people against incessant killings and clashes between Naga underground factions, unnecessary harassment, threatening and killing of innocent civilians and especially the arbitrary imposition of tax by all the Naga underground factions. NSF president Tongpang Ozukum and general secretary Esther Rhakho in their response wondered if the GPRN/NSCN leaders were “intentionally twisting the issues or they are still confused about the two incidents ?.” The signatories maintained that, NSF being an intellectual students’ organization was hesitant to resort to any kind of confrontation, be it physical or through print media, unless the situation so demanded. However, NSF said it was compelled to come out with the clarification in the hope that the GPRN/NSCN leaders would realize the act perpetrated by their cadre, admit the wrong-doing and respond positively to the genuine demands of the federation. On the issue of its ultimatum submitted to the GPRN/NSCN government, the federation said it was still expecting a positive response from the higher authority of GPRN/NSCN.
