*NSR* Any Drafters out there looking for a job? DRAFTER Summary: Under general supervision, prepare Engineering information for communication to customers, other departments or for internal analysis. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Work content is an even mixture of routine and non-routine tasks. Typical work requires an understanding of Engineering processes, familiarity with Engineering information and familiarity with data sources. 2. Computer literacy is critical as most work requires the use of computer-based systems, a personal computer, or a CAD system. 3. Typical information used is and required to understand bills of material, drawings, design data and design standards. 4. Work includes compiling, sorting, loading, analyzing, and reporting on whatever data is needed to support the task or project at hand. a. Typical Structural Plan Revisions b. Structural Plan Installation Drawings Set Creation c. Shop Weldment Drawings – Stairs, Gate and Catwalks d. Printing and folding of Structural Plan sets e. Update data systems with design information 5. Due to the variety of tasks, creativity, alertness, and flexibility are important skills. Qualifications Individuals must possess knowledge of materials and processes related to the company’s manufactured product. Must be able to manage multiple priorities and complex tasks, often conflicting in nature, to reach commitment dates. The ability to read and interpret complex specifications is required. Education and/or Experience High school diploma required. One year of training or experience in the use of computer-based tools (Microsoft Excel and AutoCAD 2010 or Higher). A one or two-year Associate degree in a technical area is a plus. 3D modeling experience a plus. Communication Skills The Entry Level Drafter reports directly to the Director of Technical Services, and must possess effective communication skills to work closely with product development team members, project managers, manufacturing team members, team leaders and buyers. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Physical Demands The position requires extended periods of computer use and keyboarding, prolonged sitting is involved. Individual must have a normal range of hearing and vision to successfully accomplish the requirements of the position.
