#NSW #Fire #Corp Update: Watch and Act - Linksview Road Fire, Springwood (Blue Mountains) 24/10/13 18:25 Posted: 24/10/2013 The bush fire in the Springwood and Faulconbridge area has burnt more than 3,300 hectares. Current Situation Fire is burning within containment lines in the vicinity of Grose Road and Chapman Parade at Faulconbridge. Crews are patrolling the fireground to ensure it does not breach containment lines. There are no properties under immediate threat. However locals should still remain vigiliant and monitor the situation. Residents in Faulconbridge, Springwood, Mt Riverview, Emu Heights, Warrimoo, Sun Valley Valley Heights, Blaxland, Woodford will likely see smoke in the area. A TOTAL FIRE BAN is in force for the Greater Sydney, Greater Hunter, Illawarra/Shoalhaven and Central Ranges areas until further notice. Advice Residents of Springwood and Faulconbridge should be aware that local road closures may occur at short notice. Put your Bush Fire Survival Plan into action. If you do not have a Bush Fire Survival Plan, know what you will do if the fire threatens your property. Well prepared and actively defended homes can offer safety during the fire. Evacuation Centres The following evacuation centres remain open for those that require assistance: North Richmond Community Hall – 33 William Street, North Richmond Springwood Sports Centre – 83 Macquarie Road, Springwood. Road Closures Due to bush fire activity there are numerous road closures. Please be aware that road closures may occur without notice. These closures will continue to be assessed across the day. Roads may be closed for an undetermined length of time. Motorists are urged to avoid all bush fire affected areas. For the latest traffic information, visit livetraffic or call 132 701. Public Transport Closures For the latest public transport information visit 131500.au or call 131 500. School Closures Some schools will be closed tomorrow (Friday 25 October).
