NTU and IllinoisIL Despite the fact that people are moving out of Illinois in droves, NTU membership remains robust, as our nearly 14,000 members fight to stop the state’s perpetual economic decline. Illinois was among the states with the largest budget deficit in the country in 2009, brought on by rampant spending with little oversight. Time and time the state government has been opaque and unaccountable. Illinois levies a job-killing estate tax and some of the nation’s highest property taxes. NTU will continue to fight for transparency and small government in the Land of Lincoln.
