Community News gathered that Babalola was flown abroad along with his son, courtesy of the national headquarters of NURTW. It was learnt that the national president of the union, Alhaji Najeem Yasin, had, during his recent sympathy visit to the residence of Babalola in Ilorin, assured that the victim would be flown abroad for adequate medical care with the union bankrolling the trip. The victim was allegedly shot late last year by a robbery gang, who ambushed his commercial car while making a return trip to Ilorin from Lagos. Speaking with Newsmen in Ilorin, the chairman, Kwara State council of NURTW, Alhaji Aliyu Isa Ore, said the robbery victim was taken to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH), adding that he did not regain the lost part of his body and was said to require special plastic surgery which could only be effectively carried out abroad. He also said that the victim was responding to treatment in the Indian hospital, adding that he would be spending six weeks on the trip. Ore, however, said that the union had been enjoying a good working relationship with security agencies in the state, adding that the NURTW would continue to collaborate with security formations to cement the existing cordial relations that has existed. He urged members of the union to exercise caution while driving on the road to avoid road mishaps especially during this rainy season. The NURTW chairman also admonished members to refrain from smoking or making phone calls while plying the road.
