NW Side Neighbor Night begins tonight at 5:30 p.m. with a neighborly get-together at a new restaurant in the area --- Café Orient 33. Enjoy an early, inexpensive, tasty supper and meet other Northwest Side people who enjoy supporting the Northwest Side’s cultural scene. Café Orient 33 is a convenient five-minute drive from Northeastern Illinois University - who is offering free parking. Café Orient 33 owners, Kelly and Ed Kahng, serve only the freshest, tastiest ingredients. They are so finicky about quality that they even make their teriyaki sauce from scratch! Fruit smoothies are freshly blended from whole fruit with no added sugar. The menu highlights dishes from Korea, Japan, and China so there is something to please every taste preference. This is a B.Y.O.B. restaurant, so bring your favorite wine or beer to enhance your meal. We should depart Café Orient 33 at about 7:00 p.m. to give us time to drive to Northeastern Illinois University at 3701 W Bryn Mawr, park for free in the university’s ample lot, retrieve tickets from the box office, and find our seats. At the end of Ensemble Caprice’s “Salsa Baroque” concert, one more treat is in store for us --- post-concert discussion and dessert. Where else can you find such love and attention? The power of a whole community supporting its professional level artists is not to be underestimated. Together, we can do anything.
