NYC Association Requested To Vice President AICC Shri Rahul Gandhi Ji&Chief Minsiter J&K Jenab Umar Abdullah that come clear with a policy for us. With esteemed respect, I on behalf of NYC Volunteers J&K would like to draw your noble attention towards my humble request that we the 8000 young men and women who were engaged as Volunteers under NYC scheme on the instructions of your excellency across the Valley immediately after the unrest of 2010. We were assured that it is a Govt. Job and we would grow along with the passage of time. Closing down NYC scheme.would shatter the Youth who were engaged as Volunteers. UNEMPLOYMENT is the biggest problem which the valley has been facing for past many decades , but Union and State. Govts responce towards addresing this issue has always been lukewarm. Addresing small issues should not have been a big issue but unfortunately people sitting in State and at New Delhi project even a small problem as a Herculean task. Providing Rs. 2500/- to 8000 YOUTH is not a big deal for economic power like India, still it wants to save the money and disengage the Youth who were engaged after a meticulous&a speedy recruitment drive. The stipend which the NYC Volunteers have been getting since 2010 is nothing more tham peanuts but the fact is that our engagment as a volunteer at a young age had given us a sense of empowerment. Now, the matter lies in the manner that if some thing happened untoward with NYCs, this will lead to the great distress andfrustration among 8000 families which nearly involving 2 lac people of J&K State. The same will affect the talent and serving power of the Youth as they will fall victims of mental depression , harassment, social evils, drug addiction etc. And ultimately they will find themselves in such a postion where from they can take any harsh steps as they are treated as earning hands and Govt. Employees in civil society. Such cosmetic measures would add to the alienation&resenment in the comming generation when they see their brethern in a rusting and diminishing future. Now, our request is to continue our services under such a comperhensive policy by which we can save our future, with the conversion of our monthly honorarium into salary&enhancement of salary.
