NYC OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT (FUNDED BY THE NYC HOUSING AUTHORITY) Civil Service Title: Community Associate Level: 00 Title Code No: 56057 Salary Range: $45,000 Office Title: WATCH COMMANDER Division/Work Unit: OPERATIONS – WATCH COMMAND Work Location: 165 CADMAN PLAZA EAST, BROOKLYN, NY 11201 Hours/Shift: VARIES Number of Positions: 1 JOB DESCRIPTION Under the supervision of the Watch Command Supervisor, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, performs professional work of varying degrees of difficulty and responsibility. Duties and Responsibilities • Monitors multiple sources of information (agency radios, computers, telephones, etc.) for situational awareness of incidents that may adversely impact the City, require a multiagency response, and/or require an OEM response • Communicates with agencies/organizations in order to confirm the nature, scope, and impact of incidents • Coordinates requests for assistance received from the field • Analyzes multiple sources of information, including GIS, in order to develop a comprehensive operational picture • Collects, collates, assembles, and disseminates information • Supports communications in the field at large events or incidents • Participates in drills and exercises • Other duties as assigned by the Deputy Commissioner of Operations or the Director of Watch Command The selected candidate will be assigned to work non-business hours and will be subject to reassignment to other shifts during emergencies or as dictated by the needs of the agency. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS 1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or 2.
