Na sentiments go finish us for this country, I swear! In 2012 or thereabouts, I made a post cautioning the outcry against heavy military pounding against in a village in the north. I clearly stated that I was against extra-judicial killings if true they were taking place but that whilst I knew there were bound to be innocent folks who would die from military actions against BH, it should be applauded. Chai! My friends (from north and south) no gree oooo. Dem call me all sorts. Those from the north said innocent villagers would suffer and that would be systematic elimination like OBJ did to Odi. The southerners argued from the human rights perspectives and asked for the military to devise other means. In all, I was the devil with the support of a few voices. Some questioned what kind of human being I was. I shrugged. That was 2 years ago. When BH still largely hid in villages Im sure with the aim of using villagers as human shields so that military actions would be condemned for civilian casualties. They were smart. Very smart. The outrage from within and without was something else. If that strategy had been allowed, Im sure, things wouldnt have become this bad. My position then wasnt inhumane, it was objective. I knew there would always be collateral damage. But the real humane humans would not hear of it. Now, Im sure much more people have become collateral damage than would have been 2 years ago. I hope as we bash President Jonathan we can call for some introspection and accept every little way we have contributed to the situation we are in now. We all postulate that Boko Haram has become a political tool. Perhaps. When a sore festers it becomes cancerous, sometimes, and this, this situation with Boko Haram is one of those times. In dire situations, please, detach yourself from your heart and take the best next option. Sometimes, it is the one with least consequence. Least because in life where theres a cause there must be an effect. Most of us dont want that, unfortunately, thats the way it is.
