NaKeias Story Dec 2009 she had a sinus infection. Jan 2010 she put paper in her ear. Feb 2010 she started complaining of tiredness, grades dropping, but still had that sinus infection. Beginning of March Kemonni said she was sick at school like everyday. I called her Pediatrician did blood work .. nothing. The next day I called my mom since she was a Head RN to meet me at her house. When we drove up my mom said take her now to the ER. On March 17, 2010 we arrived to the After Hour ER about 5:15 pm did not leave until 11:30pm. The instruction for my mom was to watch her through the night and report back to the doctors at 6:00 am March 18, 2010. We ALL went back with her to the doctor... They did 1 more blood test and thats when we was told she had CANCER... OUR HEARTS DROPPED.....we all cried but for an unknown reason my tears STOPPED I did not feel sad. I feel like a wind came through m. I had uplifted EVERYONES SPIRIT because I know she was going to be OK. The doctor called the Children Hospital here in Macon admitted her on March 18, 2010 directly to PICU and that when it ALL started.......All the different test like a Spinal Tap, more blood work, chemo started by her vein and by mouth, they order blood, platelets, taking 16 pills a day so on and so on....this was a Roller Coaster from Out of This World. I stayed their night and day for 2 month then her dad came at night so I could go home to Kemonni and Joi. The hospital staff was AWESOME. Many of times my other 2 wanted to be with me and I had no one to help them with their homework...the staff was their. They would sit down stairs and watch TV, eat dinner at the CAFE about until 8:00pm they would go home with my parents. It was so hard on my inner emotion while I was going back and forth from Kia to them.... it was none stop until about the end of June 2010. she was feeling better. Her weight went from 175 to 102 for a while. She remain in the hospital until June 2010. That when she would get a week home each month but back in the hospital for the other 3 weeks until about Oct 2010. After that the doctors reversed it 3 weeks home 1 week in the hospital until Jan 2011... Nakeia was still receiving double treatments for 2 months. Around March 2011 things started looking in her favor meds started to decrease, chemo started to decrease as well. Out patient doctors visits began.... ALL SMILES FROM KIA... SHE COMING BACK TO LIFE....At the time of her sickness she was 12 years now she is turning 16 on Jan 10... she looks at life in a different EYE.... she has so many many dreams she want to see happen... and I hope we can make that happen.. Her family LUV her soooooo muccchhh especially Kemonni and Joi in which they fight ALL the time.
