NaMo or Rahul or Arvind or ...? The above question might seem political, but this status is completely apolitical. Last few days (or months??) , facebook seemed to flood with political posts. It’s a good sign that the Indian youth participated in the election process at the biggest scale ever. But this status is about fanaticism which i saw in my friends recently. I always wondered how people get religiously fanatic. I got the answer as i observed my educated friends during General Election 2014. It is a process. We happen to align (just ‘align’) ourselves to some (just ‘some’) ideas of a party ---> This alignment for ‘some’ ideas gradually converts into ‘endorsements’ of ‘all’ ideas ---> We publicly start ‘justifying’ ‘ALL’ actions/thoughts by our party leaders (even the actions which we otherwise won’t support) ---> We ‘stop supporting’ our party, instead we start ‘criticizing’ other parties ---> The criticism (which is rational) gradually takes shape of ‘hatred’ (which is emotional) towards other party ---> The hatred towards party converts into hatred towards its ‘supporters’ . . . . And this is where we end up being no different from religious fanatics..and end up LOSING FRIENDS. And yes, this status is about distancing our friends just ‘coz they have antagonistic political views. What i feel is that political affiliations need to be professional in nature, when instead we end up being emotionally attached with parties. On the other hands, parties NEVER indulge in being emotional with us, they are always pretty professional. Tell me one party (and i challenge – tell me any SINGLE party) which hasn’t compromised with their ideals for want of power. Then why do we need to SELL our soul to these parties, so much so that we start supporting their wrong moves. Support them when they are right. If u can’t criticize, at least keep mum when they are wrong. Choose political parties the way u would choose your LED TV Brand – on the OBJECTIVE scale of parameters which u deem fit. Do u fight with ppl just coz they have different brand then yours? Do you make a god out of a brand? If no, then why fight over political parties, when even they are simply providing a service – GOVERNANCE. Does that mean i am asking you to be dispassionate in the entire process - NO. I m simply asking you to shift your passions – -- from Government to Governance (for which u need to go beyond parties’ manifestos, and look into actual policies) -- from emotional attachment to rational criticism (for which choose a party that’s closest to your ideology, but don’t SELL your soul to them , be critical of their wrong moves) -- from political leaders to friends forever (for which u may send a sms or a pm to a friend who got angry in the process) Even i support a particular party and leader, but believe me, none of them r worthy enough to fight with a friend, with whom i hv cherished memories for years just stop for a minute...introspect...away from every one...just being yourself...are you one such person...who has been lost, or who has lost a friend...in this ever-going process of politics....... its never too late to go back.......... plz remember, Governments come. Governments go. Friends don’t.
