Nadal determined to arrive in good shape for Paris and London Palma de Mallorca, Spain, Oct 25 (EFE).- Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal said Friday he was determined to arrive in good shape for his final two tournaments of 2013: next weeks Paris Masters and the ATP World Tour Finals in London. After an almost perfect year, if I dont win anything else, Ill go home with a great feeling because its been an unforgettable year for me. No doubt one of the best of my career, the world No. 1 said at the airport here before traveling to Paris. There are two tournaments left and Ill try to arrive in good shape, with a good feeling in my game, now that the overall sensation has already been achieved, he said. Nadal, who has been training in recent days on a fast hard court in his hometown of Manacor, on the Spanish Mediterranean island of Mallorca, said the Paris Masters and the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, which gets underway on Nov. 4, were difficult tournaments considering his style of play. Theyre very demanding and historically Ive always struggled, especially due to the indoor hard courts, but Ill try to give an extra effort to play at a good level, the Spaniard, who has enjoyed most of his career success on clay, said. Nadal reflected back on his improbable run in 2013 following a knee injury that ended his 2012 season prematurely. He has reached the finals of 13 of the 15 tournaments he has played this season and won 10 events, including his eighth French Open title and second U.S. Open crown. His lone major disappointment came at Wimbledon, when he was upset in the first round by unheralded Belgian Steve Darcis. He was ranked No. 5 when he arrived in Viña del Mar, Chile, for his first tournament of the year in February, but climbed rapidly due to all the success and managed to wrest the No. 1 ranking away from Novak Djokovic earlier this month. You cant always reach the finals of every tournament and whats happened this year probably will never happen again. I enjoyed all of it, Nadal said.
