Namah wants probe into legal fees By Joy Kisselpar - published on PNG Loop, Sep 7, 2014 Opposition leader Belden Namah says he will be filing a complaint with Ombudsmen Commission and the Police fraud squad to investigate legal fees paid to private lawyers. Namah says Members of Parliament who are criminally implicated should be forking out money from their own pockets to pay their lawyers. “Being criminally implicated has nothing to do with the office they occupy but with the individual,” he says. Namah claims to be receiving information that lawyers are getting large sums of money in legal fees from tax payers’ money. “If the prime minister uses public funds to defend himself in cases of the asylum seeker issue, or the UBS loan or constitutional cases, that’s ok but not when you are criminally implicated,” he said. Namah says the opposition is struggling to meet legal fees and on many occasions he has to use his own money to meet legal expenses. ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Mr Namah, a strong Seventh Day Adventist, officiating at the Adventist Youth Fair held today in Port Moresby
