Namaste! I’m an American sociology student making a dissertation about the impact social change is having on death practices in Kathmandu. I have made a survey so that I can learn about the individual experiences of people from Kathmandu. I spent 7 months in KTM last year to research the generation gap but found the religious practices and festivals to be so interesting, but particularly practices surrounding death. It’s amazing, and so interesting to see which parts of traditional practices in general are being maintained or neglected. In my case I’m specifically looking at death practices although finding out which aspects of these traditions are becoming less important will give insight into how society is changing in other ways as well. The survey does ask questions about death rituals, so if at some point you find it difficult to complete that’s tik cha because none of the questions are required.
