He clearly has a strong life force and huge amounts of chakra, surpassing those of nagato. He grew up in the hidden mist village, recieved training and made it to chunnin level eventually he left the village and wandared around the world, stopping in the cloud village learning mostly nintaijutsu. He carried on his journey around the world, learning new things as time went by, it was quite easy for him to master ninjutsu thanks to his rinnegan. Later on he returned to the hidden mist village stronger than ever, only to once again carry his missions until he left the village of being suspected of murdering leaf ninja, now he is considered an s-rank missing mist village ninja.
