The request was made to provincial police chief Nasir Khan Durrani by Tehrik-e-Insafs secretary (legal affairs) Suleman Afridi. The party rules Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. An FIR filed regarding the drone strike on a seminary in Hangu on November 22 had only nominated unidentified persons. This was the first FIR of its kind in Pakistan. The attack by the CIA-operated spy plane killed six persons, including three commanders of the dreaded Haqqani network. The FIR has been criticised by several politicians, including federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid, a close aide of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. If Imran Khan does not know who the people behind the drone attacks are, then why is he protesting against the US and NATO trucks? Rashid said. The MQM used the FIR to take jabs at the cricketer-turned-politicians stand on stopping NATO supply trucks to protest the drone strikes. The media too did not spare the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government, with some news channels making spoof videos poking fun at it. Members of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa cabinet handed over a memorandum against drone attacks to the US Consulate in Peshawar on Monday. Footage on TV showed two American officials coming out of the heavily guarded consulate to accept the memo. Talking to the media, senior provincial minister Sirajul Haque said his government will not allow any war on its soil. He underlined the need for talks between the federal government and the Taliban and urged Prime Minister Sharif to take the lead in initiating dialogue. Tehrik-e-Insaf activists stopped trucks carrying NATO supplies and roughed up drivers on the outskirts of Peshawar on Sunday. The party has said it will halt NATO trucks till drone strikes end.
