Naming a wind farm. ABO have chosen a strange name Allt Carach. - TopicsExpress

Naming a wind farm. ABO have chosen a strange name Allt Carach. Well, as in most things Gaelic, many words have various meanings. As in the case of Sionnach carach - a wily fox or fear carach - an unreliable or deceitful man. However it does have another meaning of twisting which ABO have attached to allt(stream) in the belief that it means meandering. No sir, twisting as in twisting b****ds. Càrach(with an accent grave) is I think the word they were looking for. Not the first time that windies have made a pigs ear of choosing generic names in a language that they dont understand. But then the name may be well chosen as it was used to Deceive!
