Namo Buddhaye Bai-Sai-Pang.! Good News for all Negis that The film “Liar’s Dice” India’s official entry to the 87th Academy Awards. Here are some unknown facts related to the film Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Geetanjali Thapa’s Liar’s Dice has become India’s official entry to the Oscars in the category of Best Foreign Language Film. The film, which has been set all along the Himachal-Tibet border, deals with issue of migration. The film has been shot at the Chitkul village in Kinnaur district, Shimla, and many other locations in Delhi including the famous Jama Masjid. Such has been the impact of the film that bagged two National Film Awards including, Best Actress for Geetanjali Thapa and Best Cinematography for Rajeev Rai at the 61st National Film Awards. The film was pitted against several films before it was selected as India’s official entry at the Oscars this year. In addition to Hindi films such as Shahid, Queen, Mary Kom, Mardaani and 2 States were also considered.Liar’s Dice is Geethu Mohandas’ first Hindi film and her second directorial venture. Director Geetu Mohandas is also a popular actress in Malayalam cinema. She had also written the script of the film before her debut short Kelkkunndo in 2008.The film’s world premiere was held at Mumbai Film Festival in October 2013, where it took part in the Indian competition section. Liar’s Dice was also selected for screening at the Sundance Film Festival and International Film Festival Rotterdam. Appreciated at Sofia International Film Festival, ‘Liar’s Dice’ also won a special jury award there. The film was shot on a low budget.
